    • What’s the point?

Your mental health can impact most areas of your life. Your performance at work, your relationships, your lifestyle habits, and the way you think and feel about yourself.

So we’d say it can be quite crucial to prioritise catching up with a psychologist or give it a go!

    • Why do I need to talk?

Despite what you may think, psychologists don’t just enjoy watching you squirm in discomfort. There’s a good reason that talking is involved in psychology.

Speaking stimulates a part of the brain called the ‘Broca’s Area’, which is often inhibited during high states of arousal. As Louis J. Cozolino and Erin N. Santos outline in their essay Why We Need Therapy—and Why It Works: A Neuroscientific Perspective::

“By stimulating Broca’s area, connecting words with feelings it can help restore a sense of perspective, agency, and an ability to edit dysfunctional life stories.”

    • Can I meet my psychologist virtually?

Currently our psychologists only cater for Telehealth appointments.

    • Are Pax psychologists qualified?

All Pax Psychologists have to be registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA). You can view their qualifications on their profile page.

    • Should I get a mental health care plan?

You don’t need a mental health care plan to see a psychologist, but you do need to get one from your GP or Psychiatrist to claim a Medicare rebate on psychology sessions. (You can get up to 10 subsidised sessions per calendar year with a MHCP.) We have more information on speaking with your doctor about a MHCP here.

Alternatively, you can pay for the service out-of-pocket – we list our psychologists’ fees on their profile page.

    • How does Pax help psychologists?

Pax Psychology is as much for psychologists as it is for people seeking their support.

In exchange for a small service fee, Pax provides you with:

      • Self-screened clients, aimed to tailor to the psychologists area of support
